A Norwich Conservative Councillor speaks

Here's a real beauty, from Cllr. Eve Collishaw (Con.), at yesterday's Joint Highways Agency Committee meeting, on which I also sit:

"The public never understand transport schemes."

And another, a few minutes later, to 'explain' what she meant:

"If you have public meetings about transport schemes, you'll just waste a load of time and money, and it is nothing to do with democracy: Officers understand these schemes, ordinary people just don't."

How charmingly frank!

If this is representative of the level of 'respect' which Norwich Tory Councillors have for the intelligence of their voters, then perhaps those voters will particularly enjoy the chance to be equally 'frank' with Norwich's Conservatives, when democratically voting, this May 1st...

Didn't the people speak about Cllr Eve Collishaw last May, Rupert, when she held what was considered to be an otherwise safe Labour ward with a big swing and a decent majority?

Yes -- but that was before this horrendous remark! R

Why have you removed my comment? Democacy at work, Rupert?

I removed your comment, Antony, because it was misleading to readers. I can take rational criticism, but am not prepared to see falsehoods on this blog.
Best, R.

Surely you don't still believe that we live in a democracy, do you Rupert?

The so-called democracy is nothing better than a sham. Most people know this, which is why turnout in "elections" is getting lower and lower.

One blogger exposing the shameful details is The Bristol Blogger. And a recent example of the fakery we endure under the rubric of public CONsultation is this;

Sadly there's plenty more where this came from.

What we have now is not democracy but a sophisticated and insidious form of dictatorship.

How long the British people will put up with this before taking action, is a big question.
